Information We Collect and Process
We collect basic account data for your sign-in method, information about the connected platforms and features you choose to use, and general usage data like your alert preferences.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use only essential cookies necessary to keep you signed in and operate the Service, such as session cookies that maintain your login. We do not use cookies to track you across sites, build advertising profiles, or collect additional information about you beyond what is needed for login.
Analytics Shared with Partners
We provide each Partner with usage analytics about their own community, including engagement and registration statistics. We only share this for a Partner's own community, not data about Users outside that group, and we don't sell this data or provide it to anyone other than the Partner it's about.
Data Security Commitment
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data:
- We encrypt data in transit using SSL/TLS.
- We store data on access-restricted servers.
- We apply security updates and patches regularly.
- We train staff on data-protection practices.
- We restrict data access to authorized personnel only.
Compliance
DotStorm complies with applicable privacy laws to the extent required by law.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children and is intended only for use by individuals 18 or older, consistent with the Eligibility requirement in our Terms. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we'll delete it if we learn otherwise.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Google OAuth credentials are deleted or invalidated after you disconnect Google Calendar or delete your DotStorm account, except where retention is required by law or for security auditing.
Third-Party Processors
We work with trusted infrastructure vendors (e.g., AWS) to operate the Service. We do not sell your data.
Connected Platforms: Discord
If you connect Discord, we access your Discord user ID and server roles, which determine which Partner communities you belong to. Partners may install the DotStorm bot on their Discord server to route notifications by role automatically; this only applies once you've registered with DotStorm, registered with that Partner, set your alert preferences, and connected Discord — until then, a Partner installing the bot gives us no data about you.
Connected Platforms: Google
If you connect a Google account, DotStorm's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
What Google user data we access: DotStorm requests only the Google Calendar calendar.events OAuth scope. Google describes this scope as allowing an application to view and edit events on the calendars you grant it access to. DotStorm's actual use of this permission is narrower than what it technically allows — see "How we use it" below. We do not request the broader calendar scope, and we do not access any other Google data (including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Contacts, or Google Photos).
How we use it: This permission is used solely to create, update, and delete calendar events generated by the DotStorm Service on your Google Calendar. DotStorm does not read, import, analyze, synchronize, or use your existing Google Calendar events, except as technically required to manage the events DotStorm previously created. This access is used exclusively to provide calendar synchronization — never for advertising, marketing, profiling, analytics unrelated to providing the Service, or AI model training.
With whom we share it: DotStorm does not sell or share Google Calendar data (including calendar event content or any data obtained through the Google Calendar API) with Partners, advertisers, or other third parties. It is processed only as necessary to provide the Service, and only by trusted infrastructure providers operating on DotStorm's behalf.
How we protect it: Google Calendar data and Google authorization credentials are protected using the same measures described under Data Security Commitment above — encrypted in transit, stored on access-restricted servers, and accessible only to authorized personnel and systems that require it to operate the Service.
Retention and deletion: Google authorization credentials are retained only while your Google account remains connected to DotStorm. If you disconnect your Google account or delete your DotStorm account, DotStorm stops accessing your Google Calendar and deletes or invalidates the associated Google authorization credentials within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
DotStorm stores calendar event information published through the DotStorm Service as part of providing the Service. DotStorm does not import, synchronize, or maintain a separate copy of existing Google Calendar content. Access to Google Calendar is limited to creating, updating, and deleting DotStorm-generated events.
Connecting Google is optional; you can use the Service with Discord or email alone.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, and you will receive breach notifications as required by applicable law. You may also revoke Google Calendar access at any time by either disconnecting Google Calendar within DotStorm or removing DotStorm's access from your Google Account's third-party app connections.
No Absolute Security
While we strive for security, no system is completely risk-free.
